Top five of the most romantic destinations in Europe.

Published by admin under Europe

Some people say that the best moment to fall in love is during spring time, but there are some places in Europe that obviously demonstrate that you can fall in love no matter what season would be if the place where this happens is gorgeous.
But, let’s say you’ve already found your beloved one. The places that will be described next can guide you to a wonderful experience in the five, most romantic destinations across Europe.

Paris

The fact that Paris got the first place in this hierarchy is not surprising because everybody knows at least a little bit about this capital of love. For everyone who ever visited Paris is clear the fact that Woody Allen was right when he said: “As long as you haven’t been kissed during any of those rainy Parisian afternoons, you haven’t been kissed at all.”
Now if you just want to make it a great trip here are a few places you must see and some things to do, in order to get the real flavor of Paris.
Till you get used to the place a good idea is to check those sidewalk café terraces. It’s a perfect resting spot, ideal observatory because the streets turn into a real aquarium having fish as passer-by’s.
Then, the area of the Louvre Museum is magnificent. Not only is the remarkable beauty of the Museum but also the surrounding area is notable. Parks, shops and other romantic coffee places are available.
Now if you want to impress your Latin Quarter fan partner, you will surely want to sit at the terrace of “Les Deux Magots” where French philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre and his wife, writer Simone de Beauvoir, used to hole up there in the 50s.
A great romantic spot is Place Furstemberg that takes a whole other atmosphere at night. It is quiet, isolated, and sort of private. The nearby abbey lends it a historical feel. Sitting under the trees, the wooden benches welcome eternal lovers.
Another beautiful destination in Paris that you will not regret is the park located at the tip of Ile de la Cite. It is a small park named Square du Vert Galant and takes its name from King Henri the 4th, a womanizer in his own right. Lined with century-old trees, the park offers a magnificent view of the river Seine and the Louvre Museum. The best view can be taken during day time. You can take a boat tour if you want to make the visit to this place even more interesting and romantic.

Venice

If you are visiting Venice, you should be ready at any moment to be stroked by some of the perfumed arrows of the inexhaustible Cupid. He probably chose this place because there are so many things to fell in love with so if his arrows fail, you would still be in love at least with the place. Firstly it is necessary to take a walk in the beautiful Squares of Venice, take, for instance Campo San Stefano and enjoy the free space, the beautiful surroundings, pigeons and children laugh. Take you’re beloved and enjoy a coffee between these surroundings.
Now, moving around Venice is impossible not to notice the famous Bell Tower of San Marco Plaza, the tallest of its kind, measuring 98 meters high.
It is almost a new bell tower since its rebuilding in 1912 after the spectacular collapse of precedent in 1902.
You have to see the churches of Venice. You can’t ignore them. They will remind you of their existence through their sound, their position and resonance of their sound from a wall to another. You must visit at least one of the following:  Church Madona de la Salute, Church San Marcuola Cannaregio, and Church Sant’ Alvise Cannaregio.
And now, off course, we’re talking about love stories and romance so if you won’t take a ride with the boat on the waters of Venice you can almost say you haven’t seen Venice at all.
Since is a city mostly build on waters you will not be able to ignore it. But you have to take the best of it. I hope you are convinced abut the beauty of this place and the position in this list.

Firstly, in order to get a taste of the place, a good idea would be to start enjoying Prague by visiting Prague Castle is the premier Prague tourist attraction. Located on a hill, it offers fine views over the city, in fact, it is considered the most beautiful view upon Prague. Here you will have also many places to visit within the Castle and scent the flavor of a city with such elegant and sophisticated romantic features.

Considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Budapest best expresses the idea of love through details linked to its formation. Bisected by the Danube River, Budapest was created out of the unification of the separate historic towns of Buda, Pest and Óbuda in 1873. Just like the legend of the androgynous, it was separated in order to finally be united in one.
All sorts of activities can be performed here, from cultural visits to relaxing oases and entertainment. So you have many activities to choose from. Thermal Baths are available since Budapest is enriched with natural springs and thermal waters, museums and ruins of great importance for Hungary’s history, the famous Buda Castle and various sightseeing tours.
No matter what time of the year you will be visiting Budapest, there is always something captivating to do. Even weather is not to warm between October and March, exhibitions, festivals, concerts and operas can be enjoyed indoors, special events are taking place in every season.
Accommodation is available for both thin and large pockets, prices for hotel rooms vary from 20 euro to 100 and more for more pretentious visitors. Concerning food, many beautiful restaurants can be found here demonstrating that Hungarian cuisine has nothing to be blamed for. You will only find it delicious.

Schonbrunn Palace

Published by admin under Europe

Schonbrunn Palace is found in Austria, more precisely in its capital, Vienna. It is the pride of the place, an astonishing palace, an important site both as beauty and cultural aspects. The Schonbrunn Palace is the most often visited tourist attraction in the beautiful city of Vienna.

The site where the palace was build belonged to the manor of the monastery at Klosterneuburg and it is thought to have been bought in 14’Th century and some structures were assembled. In 1548 the mayor of Vienna extended the buildings and transformed the property into a manorial estate. The beauty of the real Schonbrunn Palace was given by the architect Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach who was given by Emperor Leopold the order to make the design for the new palace. The construction that had as a role model the Versailles, begun in 1696 and after three years the first festivities were held in the newly built middle part of the palace.

Next to the Schonbrunn Palace and in the front area are lying beautiful gardens that were long time before used to host pheasants, ducks, deer and boar, in order to serve as court’s recreational hunting ground. Then, in a small separate part of the area, “exotic” birds like turkeys and peafowl were kept. Fishponds were also built there too.

The name Schonbrunn that means “beautifully well” has its roots in an artesian well from which water was consumed by the court and the legend said that the emperor exclaimed, when seeing it first time “What a beautiful well”.
From 1638 to 1643, a new palace was added to Katterburg, but during the Turkish siege of 1683 some of the buildings were destroyed and unfortunately never restored.

However Schonbrunn Palace is a gorgeous place that must be seen at least once in a lifetime.

Salzburg fortress

Published by admin under Europe

Any trip to Salzburg should definitely include a visit to one of the most significant attractions of this city, Hohensalzburg Fortress. It is about one thousand years old, and it was built by Archbishop Gebhard in 1077. The fortress is the largest in Europe, of its kind to have survived intact on the whole.

Between the greatest attractions it counts the Fortress Museum and the medieval Princes’ Chambers that are open the entire year.

Situated on a high platform, the fortress can be seen since entering the borders of the city. The modern look it owes now is due to Archbishop Leonhard von Keutschach (1495-1519). He is the one who extended and commissioned the lavish decoration of its interior

A very important amendment, as a matter of structure was also the edification of the commanding Khuenburg bastion. The inducement of the Hohensalzburg fortress in the past was to serve as a hiding place, a refuge for the ecclesiastical rulers of the diocese of Salzburg. Interesting and notably about this fortress is that it was never, in its long existence captured or beleaguered with thrift by enemies.

Hohensalzburg Fortress is a great castle experience; it is a unique medieval place to be with a specific sense of personality.

Situated up the hill, the place gives the opportunity of enjoying a spectacular view upon the whole city and the Alps. You can choose to walk till there or take the funicular that will take you there with a 10 Euros ticked. Included in the price is also the visit to the museum which is a great experience too. There you can enjoy seeing an impressing display of guns, weapons and uniforms used in World War 2.

Before ending your visit here, don’t forget to buy a souvenir that would remind you of this beautiful castle in Salzburg.

Strasbourg Cathedral, France

Published by admin under Europe

So called “gigantic and delicate marvel” by Victor Hugo, the Cathedral of Strasbourg is opened for whoever is visiting this engaging city of France.

Hidden among Strasbourg’s buildings, houses and restaurants, the cathedral it’s resting its hoary walls seeming like protecting its artistry.

Considered the world’s tallest building between 1647 and 1874 with 142 meters and in the present, the fourth tallest church in the world, it is impossible to not tap your attention, while wandering on the streets of Strasbourg. Besides, it’s gifted with so many aspects and “talents” that make it so irresistible from being visited. An example is the flawless combination between Romanesque architecture and the finest Gothic architecture that contributes to its uniqueness. In fact, it is reckon as a masterpiece of the Gothic era and thousands of Goth figures are successfully decorating its façade.

An absolute spectacular 18 meters astronomical clock is found inside, on the left, next to the Pillar of Angels, which is one of the largest in the world. The clock is able to accurate indicate leap, years, equinoxes and other kind of astronomical data.

At a time when computers didn’t exist, the clock could determine “computus”, the calculation of the Easter in Christian calendar.

The clock also indicates solar time, the day of the week, the month, the year, the sign of the zodiac, the phase of the moon and the position of several planets. Not only is that a remarkable machine but it is also a beautiful piece of art. Egregious sculpted figurines decorate with flying colors the clock and on top of it, two rods on the side and a golden sculpted figurine is defining the end of the top masterwork.

Rhodes, Greece

Published by admin under Europe

Rhodes Island, located in Dodecanes  Archipelago in the Eastern Mediterranean, is the meeting place of west and east, with a wonderful nature that combines golden sand beaches with valleys, hills and mountains, lighted by the sun the whole year. The Romans, the Knights of St. John, the Ottomans and later, at the beginning of the XX century the Italians have stopped on this island, each leaving behind his fingerprint, but not managing to know the Greek roots of the island.
Rhodes Island has been inhabited since the Neolithic. From 1100 I.C. when the Dorriens arrived on the island, they founded the three localities of Lindos, Ialysos and Kamiros, which were developed as a commercial center and transit for goods. This made the island to develop as an important commercial node. The most well-known and brave mariners in antiquity, the inhabitants of the island, have developed the first navigation laws, laws on which the Nautical international code is based even today.

Around the year 800 I.C. the three localities along with the island of Kos and fortresses of Halicarnassus and Cnidus in Asia Minor have formed an alliance, political and religious called the Dorian Hexapolis, and in 408 B.C. is decided that the north town of the island should become the capital of present Rhodes. The new capital plans were designed by the architect Ippodamus, but a devastating earthquake destroyed the city in 227 B.C.
The 3rd century B.C. is the moment when the island is conquered by the Romans and later by the Gots. From the 3rd century A.C. during the Byzantine Empire, the island has passed from the Arabs to the Genoese. In 1309 the Order of the Knights of St. John conquered the island from Genoese and laid here for more than two centuries, during which time they have fought against Muslims and they have developed economy and commercial relations, building the castle and fortifications, which were kept in very good conditions until today.
The Ottoman Turks have dominated the island for approximately  400 years, for which reason the old city area is full of mosques. In 1912, the Italians come into possession of the island after a short war with the Ottoman Empire and make this “Pearl” an Italian colony. The Italians built many buildings with public interest: the new market, the aquarium, in a very particular oriental Mediterranean style. They rebuild walls of the fortress, but they are all partially destroyed during the Second World War.
Rhodes is the capital of island and was founded 2400 years now. The tour begins with the exploration of the ancient “Acropola” city, located on Smith Mountain, where there are ruins of the Temple of Apollo and the stadium. Near the Acropola you will discover a different world, with high walls and narrow streets typical of the medieval Knights fortress. Byzantine churches, built in Gothic style, palaces, inns and mosques coexist with the modern style of new buildings that surround the historic and ancient port bordered by the magnificent statue of Colosseum  ave ry long time symbol of the Rhodos.
A Greek  evening with different traditional food in the  Restaurant in the town of Pastida: vestibules for 4 persons, salad, tzatziki, humus, mainly as a mixed-grill, dessert made of season fruits and 1 bottle of wine.

Published by admin under Europe

You can visit Athens only for its Acropolis, and the Parthenon Museum, where you will find some of the most beautiful traces of ancient Greece and you’ll feel the charm of the sacred monuments and art.
If u climb the Acropolis and you watch the view and the city, you will discover every time another city, full of contrasts and surprises: the ancient, the Byzantine, the neoclassical, the modern, the happy.
The city’s joy can be seen everywhere: in the ancient theaters, in the modern exhibitions, in sport competitions, near the columns of an ancient temple, at a concert or even near a glass of Raki in a taverna. Or, also here, you can enjoy the night life that this city offers you generously through its restaurants, bars and nightclubs.
Athens enjoys an excellent location, giving visitors the opportunity to know the ancient theater Epidavros, Mycenae and Delphi - home of King Agamemnon. Also, you can take cruises up to the nearby islands: Aegina, Poros and Hydra. Artistic Events, festivals, sports competitions, anniversaries and many other fun moments choose their hosts here in the town of the Olympic Games.
The best place to do shopping in Athens, and where you can find stores near stores, is Ermou street. Brands such as S. Oliver, Mark & Spencer, Benneton, Zara and more expect tourists to pass the threshold, and prices are up to 50% lower compared to other countries. Neither of souvenirs fans will get bored here. Some stores have incredible prices that skip your eye without even knowing. Here you can choose from dozens of pairs of shoes, from summer until winter. And if you have a few hours until the plane will go back home, just go back to Monastiraki. It’s time for a rich lunch and for souvenirs.
From Monastiraki there is not much and get up to ten minutes in Plaka, an old neighborhood with narrow streets, buildings that housing shops on the ground floor with souvenirs, clothing, jewellery and even restaurants. Street sellers will tempt you with watches and sunglasses. Linen blouses made for men, earrings and necklaces made of gold and silver for women, all kinds of articles that seem they want to disturb the tourits’ eyes with flashy colors , restaurants whose menu is in view, waiters bearing huge plates with unknown food. Everything is a wonderful mixture of life and color.
Tourists can find everything they want, but some souvenirs are to be doubted. Shops display copies of famous statues and Greek vessels, spread through the world’s museums.
After many hours of course that you have been hungry. If you wish, you can remain in Plaka, but due to the large number of tourists you might not find a place in a free meal or even if you find, you will have to stay cramped . You should better go to Psyrri, near the subway from Monastiraki, the area which is not so much circulated because there are just a few shops. A rich meal does not exceed ten euro with the drink included. The meal includes half of a chicken with gasket made of all sorts of vegetables. Do not be scared by the pitcher of water that no-one ordered: is just simple water, just for your thirst and will not appear on the bill.
